IQNA – The violations committed by the Israeli regime against the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron (Al-Khalil) drew strong condemnations from Egypt’s Al-Azhar.

The violations committed by the Israeli regime against the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron (Al-Khalil) drew strong condemnations from Egypt’s Al-Azhar.

The Islamic center condemned the violations, including illuminating the historic site with the so-called “Star of David,” raising occupation flags on its walls, and placing a curtain bearing Talmudic and political slogans over the shrine of the Prophet Jacob (AS).

In a statement, Al Azhar stressed that these actions aim to impose a policy of Judaizing Islamic holy sites like the shrine of the Prophet Jacob (AS) and erasing their defining features.

Al-Azhar affirmed that this blatant transgression constitutes a new episode in a pattern of systematic Israeli colonial violations targeting Islamic holy sites, describing it as a flagrant provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide and a desperate attempt to alter the mosque’s established identity and distort its historical character.

The statement reiterated Al-Azhar’s categorical rejection of these practices, emphasizing that they are invalid both religiously and legally.

Al Azhar also underscored that such actions will not change the fact that the Ibrahimi Mosque is an Islamic endowment and will remain a lasting testament to the Arab identity of the land and the Islamic character of its holy sites.
